About the Artist
Luiza is a Brazilian artist born in the city of Goiânia, and is currently based in San Francisco, California, where she received an MFA degree from the Academy of Art University. Previously a fashion and costume designer in Rio de Janeiro, she began her career as a fine artist in the summer of 2017, at the School of Visual Arts and The Art Students League of New York, then moved to San Francisco the following year.
Luiza’s work is inspired by color, culture, textiles and interior design. Her background in fashion influences the patterns that compose her still life paintings, and the passion for past cultures led her to create the Nostalgia series, in which she paints antique objects as a way to bring back memories.
